What The Experts Say About The Hoyt Jib Boom
Bengt Jornstedt-Editor-Segling-Leading Swedish Sailing Magazine
"I have used the Hoyt Jib Boom for three seasons on my 38 footer and I love it. It makes the headsail supremely easy to handle, giving full control at all times. To me, the most outstanding feature is its 'kick effect' ensuring efficient sail even when one starts to ease the sheet. Never again that hopelessly twisted leech-it's like having an invisible sheeting point out on the water. A marvel! I consider the Hoyt Jib Boom to be by far the best idea that has come out in many, many years."

Andrew Bray-Editor- Yachting World-Leading English Sailing Magazine
"When my boat, a 43 ft. wood/epoxy fast cruiser, was being built I wanted to have a furling self-tacking jib but was trying to solve the problem of changing the sheeting angle as the sail was reefed. One of my readers suggested the Hoyt Jib Boom.

I got far more than I bargained for. My sailmaker recognized the potential of the system and cut a sail with vertical full battens and a big roach. This develops enormous power on a reach as the Hoyt Jib Boom acts like a vang so I'm getting 100% of the horsepower from the sail and regularly outsail boats many feet longer. As for tacking, my crew complain that they are redundant as all they have to do is to change sides."
Bob Johnson-President/CEO-lsland Packet Yachts
Since the late 70's, the Island Packet range of sailboat models have been available with some form of staysail installation. These systems have evolved covering virtually every possible configuration from a simple loose footed flying staysail to club footed, roller furled systems on permanent stays. A Hoyt (R) boom was first incorporated for our staysail starting with the introduction of the Island Packet 350 about 6 years ago. We have used this configuration on every new Island Packet model since. The self-vanging aspect of the Hoyt (R) boom maintains excellent sail shape on all points resulting in considerably more drive from the staysail. A simple bridle sheet arrangement leads aft to the cockpit along with the roller furling line, so setting/furling or trimming the staysail is always convenient. Hundreds of Island Packets with these Hoyt (R) boom staysail rigs have now logged countless miles cruising worldwide in all varieties of conditions. I'd be hard pressed to improve on any aspect of this setup and would heartily recommend it to all cruising sailors."

Ken Read-America's Cup Helmsman and V.P. of North Sails
"The Hoyt Jib Boom is one of the best cruising innovations I have seen or used."

The Patented Hoyt Jib Boom (U.S. Pat.# 5,463,969) received Sail Magazines' 2000 Award for "Rigging Innovation of the Year" and is now in use on over 1000 yachts.
